Sure, baggie mtb shorts are everywhere, but when you start shopping the all-mountain niches, the selection quickly dwindles to either purpose designed down hill racer gear … or articles that lean just a bit too far over the fashion forward fence. But thankfully the Maloja EllaM. Women’s Shorts ride that fence by packing in features dedicated to all different types of mountain riders with unique style.

Molaja’s EllaM. Shorts are not restricted to just one inner liner. They felt that having options to choose from either a chamois equipped or armored inner liner definitely outweighs being restricted to only having one or the other that is permanently fixed to the mtb shorts. Not to mention this will also allow you to sport the EllaM. comfortably, without liner, after the mountain bike festivities.

It’s no secret that mountain biking takes its toll on the most loved gear. But Maloja have designed the EllaM. shorts out of three different fabrics to provide a perfect balance of material strength, rider comfort, and freedom of movement. For the strength department, the backside of the EllaM. have been reinforced with a Cordura layer.

Cordura is very resistant to abrasion and tearing. It has been well known to be utilized with the construction of anything from luggage to military personnel apparel. While your seat might start off the day having a smooth surface, that seats surface can become more aggressive as it gets a dirty patina through the day of mountain biking. With it used here, Cordura will give the EllaM. plenty of durability to resist any saddle rub you want to throw at it.

The large majority of the EllaM. mtb shorts have been crafted from a special fabric that’s made out of high tenacity polyamide yarn. Which ends up making the textile into a very soft , corduroy style texture but having a high resistance to tearing. This gives the EllaM. shorts more strength for the inevitable date with the terra firma or any sharp trail side branch they might find. And those trail branches could also be covered with the morning dew, and alpine trails often require some water crossing.

To deal with that, Maloja combined the softer polymide fabric with a sympatex membrane on the otherside. This will not only keep the water from penetrating the fabric, but can resist wind as well. These mtb shorts will stay dry on the inside no matter how damp the alpine forest is.

They also gave the EllaM. shorts a slightly form fit, but still allowing plenty of room to utilize a liner with hip and thigh pads. For Maloja to achieve this they have tweaked the different panels to hug your profile without being restrictive. Because of the full-gamut of different riding positions though, women’s mtb shorts require added give. Especially along the waistline to maintain sufficient coverage. To address this, Maloja has employed an extra stretch panel to reassure that you will stay comfortable and freely maneuver on your mountain bike.
