GT’s Timberline 1.0 bike makes for a great 29r having their advanced technology, they have intended it to be utilized for trail riding, by equipping the 1.0 model with proven off-road brands like Suntour and Shimano will make for the perfect foundation for seasons of mountain bike riding.

29ers have certainly become all the rage as we understand all to well here at 29erCafe, and for perfectly good reason. Their are key benefits with bigger wheel diameters for mountain bikes, that are being exploited by expert and beginner riders alike. The bigger diameter will decrease your tire’s angle of attack on rough objects thus allowing you to roll over those obstacles both faster and way easier. The larger wheel also enables you to carry your momentum through mud and sandy soft sections, with better stability.

The designers have used their in-house hydro formed Speed Metal tubes for construction on the Timberline 1.0. This hydro forming technique leaves the alloy material in all the necessary points within the frame for needed stiffness  and support along with keeping the overall weight down as well. They also have used a Suntour 29″ front fork that has 80mm of smooth travel to absorb terrain obstacles with confidence. For gearing Shimano handles the drive train with their Acera 24-speed group along with EZ Fire Plus shifters. For stopping the Timberline 1.0, there are Promax mechanical disc brakes for solid and reliable stopping power with 160mm disc rotors. The wheel department is handled by the ALEX wheel company.

For the other small Items to finish the model, they applied their own MTB saddle along with waffle wing grips to give you maximum comfort with support. They also have some simple Slim Line platform pedals to make it easy hopping on and off the 29r mountain bike without the need for specific clippless shoes to clip in.

These 29ers seem very versatile for capability to ride it on the road as well with simply changing out the mountain tire to a road tire.
