Ionic Carbon Comfort Seatpost

A polymer damping ring between the head and the DiffLock clamp decouples the head from the shaft of the post, preventing high-frequency vibration from being transmitted to the rider. While this 3T component comes with Ionic 25 shock-absorbing technology to enhance your ride.

Ionic Team helps reduce rider fatigue on today’s generation of ultra-stiff, aero race bike chassis, and bikes intended for endurance riding. This version has a carbon-fibre shaft bonded into an alloy head and is finished in UD Gloss Black with the Road Circle in red.

3T Ionic 25 Team Stealth Comfort Seatpost

IONIC CARBON COMFORT

This new innovative design features key details like the sophisticated and robust, exclusive DiffLock saddle clamp. It’s all here due to the placement the seat clamp assembly in line with the seatpost for zero setback. Thankfully the creative bike-parts design crew with 3T thought this through and developed the new Ionic 25 to be a more compact style design. Thus solving those bike fit issues that corollate to not only your seatpost, but your stem handlebar as well.

If your like many athletes seeking outright speed favor this more forward position on the bike. The Ionic 25 is ideal as some frame designers are also specifying a slacker seat tube so riders can set their bike up with an inline post, which is lighter than a setback post. The splined alloy DiffLock coupling is a highly-accurate method of setting saddle angle needing only lightweight clamping by side-mounted bolts. It is especially useful for fine adjustment of saddle setback, which can be done without impacting saddle angle.

They have also fabricated the post out of carbon fiber with a shot-peened, black-anodized finish along with a kick ass graphic design to keep it lighter weight, with the super cool modern looking stripe.

Also for the diameter size options, they provide the two most popular sizes of 27.2mm which I feel is ideal because it helps with a little extra compliance for super bumpy areas out there. While the more versatile Ionic 0 gets a second diameter of 31.6mm as well, with the three lengths of, 280, 350, 420mm.

Wolf Tooth Components Limited Edition all black ReMote LA

Based on the performance of the Wolf Tooth Components ReMote alone, we know you already want one – assuming you have a compatible dropper post. It’s hard to imagine a much better version of a dropper post lever. That is, unless you’re picky about the looks. The original ReMote and ReMote LA are hardly offensive with a mostly black anodized finish with white laser etched graphics, but if you act fast you could score a ReMote in full stealth mode. The special edition is extremely limited though, so if you want one you should drop onto the WTC site as quickly as possible…

With the exception of the all black finish, the Limited Edition ReMote is the same stellar dropper lever that is almost universally loved. This particular edition is the ReMote LA for light action which uses a 10mm longer lever arm to reduce actuation force by 33%.

That makes it the preferred choice of droppers like the 9Point8 Fall Line, Easton Haven/RaceFace Turbine, Thomson, and Fox Transfer, though it will work with almost every other mechanical dropper as well. On the bottom of the lever you’ll still find the huge ball bearing pivot for silky smooth actuation, and there are mounting options for SRAM Matchmaker X, Shimano I-Spec I/II and A/B, and standard bars.

The only catch is that there have only been 75 of the Stealth ReMote LA levers made with no guarantees on more coming in the future. Pricing is the same as the standard ReMote LA at $69.95 for the 22.2mm bar clamp version.

PNW Components Rainier Dropper Seatpost External Routing

Rainier Dropper Post

$229.00

PNW is based in the thick of technical trail nirvana where it rains a bit, and get it that few things crush flow like having to stop and adjust your saddle position every time the grade changes directions. You can now keep your flow and adjust on-the-fly with the PNW Components Rainier features a sealed damping cartridge and light actuation, this post swiftly manages the transitions from high-speed singletrack to one extremely intense descent with a quick press of its PNW handlebar-mounted lever.

PNW incorporates a Spin-Stop technology into the setup, which consists of a keyed slider system that allows the post to freely move vertically without any side-to-side saddle wobble. At the bars a streamlined, ambidextrous Rainier lever integrates cleanly on either side of the handlebar for quick access to lower post action whenever you need it.

  • Rainier makes transition seamless between climbs, flats, and descents
  • Sealed damping cartridge for smooth, light actuation
  • Rainier lever cleanly integrates on right or left side of the bars

Shimano PRO Koryak Dropper Seatpost released at Eurobike 16

Shimano PRO Koryak Dropper Seatpost released at Eurobike

Pro Koryak Components

With the new Shimano Pro Koryak Dropper Seatpost, it falls into the existing component brand, they had already made as their affordable mountain bike cockpit with their alloy XC & trail line-up. But now to add to Shimano stems, bars, and fixed posts, they are introducing a new part to get the most out of technical off-road riding. The cable-actuated setup gives mountain bikers 120mm of infinite saddle adjustment with a integrated cockpit option and stealth routing.

PRO Koryak dropper seatpost_Shimano mtb cockpit components

The new Pro setup could be a pretty important development as it is the first suspension component (the air cartridge at its heart) to come under their umbrella. It’s not clear whether they set up a new division just to deal with the Pro cartridge design or brought specialists into their regular Pro cockpit component design team.

Shimano PRO Koryak -bikegear.com

In any case the alloy Koryak is said to offer a smooth action, paired with a fast rebounds via its replaceable air cartridge. That gives the Koryak post infinitely adjustable 120mm of throw, with diameters available in 30.9 or 31.6mm and a zero offset head. In addition to the cartridge, Shimano bushings will be readily available to make them easy to service for smooth drop action for a long time.

PRO Koryak Dropper remote

The Pro works with their own integrated two bar mounted remotes depending on your cockpit setup. A typical two-position up/down thumb lever can be mounted on the top of the bar on either side in addition to your normal controls. Or a more push-button Pro lever that mounts via I-Spec II to the left brake for those running 1x drivetrains or new Di2 Synchro Shift setup. Either way the Pro setup runs on their Optislick cable and housing for a smoothly-actuated, internal routing setup.

The Pro claims a total system weight of 520g, including the remote and cable/housing. (It’s worth noting when you compare weights that sometimes only post weight is quoted.) They will be available later this autumn through regular dealer channels.

Bike Yoke Revive Innovative Dropper Seatpost

Bike Yoke Revive Dropper Post

Revive Post is the solution…

The Bike Yoke Revive dropper seatpost design engineers have come back with a unique and innovative solution to the issues with wanting to move your seat up and down. It was a not so subtle hint Bike Yoke had a model in the works after releasing a couple of better designed remote levers this summer.

Their Revive utilizes a different hydraulic lockout design that eliminates most of the pitfalls of the currently standard Internal Floating Piston layout. This new design allows you to on-the-fly bleed off any air that gets where it shouldn’t be (the most often reason to need for a post rebuild), and allows for easy servicing of bushings and guide pins (anti-rotating) at home without opening the hydraulics.

The Revive concept got it’s start becuase most models use a similar tech solution to slide up and down and locking in place, relying on a very precise Internal Floating Piston (IFP) that must be perfectly sealed or subject to failure, also keeping the oil & air separate. When they don’t stay totally sealed, air gets in and your seatpost bounces up and down like suspension, necessitating a rebuild.

So to combat that they eliminated the IFP design all together for their Revive. Instead they went with a design that is more simple, and lets excess air bleed into the shaft instead of into the oil. That means that production is a bit easier, and by incorporating a bleed valve in the head of the post, when air goes where it shouldn’t, and you post gets squishy, you can bleed it out in a couple of seconds tool-free. An added benefit is that they were able to use just 2 dynamic seals, for super smooth movement and no friction sticking, and still get a hydraulic setup that is more stable and longer lasting.

Bike Yoke Revive Dropper Seatpost

The key feature is of course that Revive valve, or reset button on the head. Press it, and push the post down by hand and the hydraulic circuit is totally reset. Back to good as new without having to even take it off your ride.

The Revive also builds in a bit more strength/stiffness by mounting the upper bushing right to the lower tube instead of an add-on cap for better performance with the same stack height. The one-piece lower tube also lends better alignment for the 6 keyed pins that keep it from rotating. They have designed the Revive so that the bushings and keyway pins that will wear out with use are as user-serviceable as possible. They can both be replaced without messing with the hydraulics and can be done by anyone who can operate a set of retaining ring pliers.

BikeYoke Revive _sizing

The Revive will come in two travel lengths, 125 & 160mm, and in two seatpost diameters for each travel: 30.9 & 31.6mm. They can be operated by either a 1x specific remote like their Triggy that takes the place of a left shifter, or an old-style up/down push button remote.

The 125mm in 30.9mm diameter is claimed to weigh 470g, while the remote without cables adds another 25g.

bike yoke lever

Their seatpost is slated to be available in January/February 2017, in time for early spring riding. They will be offering a pre-order deal that will open up just after Eurobike in a couple of weeks that will run throughout the month of September. Anyone who pre-orders then will lock-in one for the beginning of the year delivery and is said to expect some freebies thrown in with their order. Pricing on the Revive pre-order has been set at 350€ for the 125mm travel version and 370€ for the longer 160mm version. Both prices include a Triggy remote, a free I-Spec adapter or Shifty SRAM pulley, and an upgrade to ti saddle clamp bolts. They are also inclusive of German/EU VAT and free worldwide shipping.

Eightpins new Integrated Dropper Seatpost Syntace /Liteville design

syntace liteville eightpins integrated seatpost

Dropper seatposts have evolved, to make them far more durable and reliable than when the dropper concept first originated, but unfortunately one issue is still prominent, which is binding when a seatpost collar get’s over tightened. Many modern posts have tried to address this with more robust outer cylinders or tricky internals, but the fact remains, if you over tighten your collar, things may not work as well as they should. Eightpins, in an apparent collaboration with Syntace, will be introducing a completely different take on it at Eurobike. Judging by the fuzzed out photo of it, it could involve frame integration, or possible an expanding system that locks the post into place by wedging against the inside of the seat tube. We’ll release more info, and a possible release date, when it’s available…

Easton Haven Dropper Post

Easton Haven Dropper Post

Easton Haven Dropper Post Review

— Listed for $469.00 now $399.00

Easton is the latest in a line of brands deciding that it’s time to make a foray into the world of moving your seat up and down, acknowledging the significant increase in ride quality these posts have brought. With the addition of the Haven to their lineup, you can now choose to fully spec your bike with Easton componentry, but even if you’re not a loyalist, we think trying out Easton’s take on the situation would be worthwhile.

With a sturdy Easton EA90 aluminum construction and internal routing, the Haven won’t interrupt the clean lines of your frame. Easton builds in its own patented hydraulic locking technology, which is inspired by disc brakes and paired with low air pressure and static seals to equip the setup to bear weight reliably over time. Since the Haven was developed to not have any temperature or weather limitations, it makes a valuable addition to fat bikes for the winter months, and with the Quick Connector internal cable routing design, you can swap the post between bikes without the use of tools when the seasons change. Easton includes a standard remote with the Haven, but if a one-by drivetrain leaves extra bar space in your cockpit, the company makes a shifter-style remote as a separate upgrade.

Despite all evidence gathered from the aerospace industry, F1 racing, and the WorldTour, some cyclists may still have lingering doubts about the viability of ENVE’s signature item, carbon wheels; however, there can be no questioning both the benefits and risk-free nature of the Utah-based manufacturer’s latest foray into the realm of black fiber, the Twin Bolt Zero Offset Seatpost. Given the impact ENVE has had on wheels, we can only assume the Twin Bolt will sign post the future of cockpit adjustability.

The Twin Bolt benefits from all the advances of ENVE’s strict carbon construction ethos. Given what these methods did for the advancement of carbon wheels, you can imagine the benefits to a seatpost: strong enough for road or trail, lightweight, easy to install, and intuitive to adjust via the Twin Link hardware.

The Twin Link mechanism itself comprises two bolts that govern the movement of two wedges in order to adjust the saddle’s angle from 0 to 27 degrees, locking your ride in place at your preferred setting. The mechanism doesn’t require tortured angling with a wrench to reach under the saddle where Allen keys fear to tread. Rather, the bolts are on either side of the clamp, sitting well below the saddle rails so you can adjust them with your preferred tool. For kit this nice — not to mention to protect carbon rails — we recommend the reliable restraint of a torque wrench.

Even so subtle a change as new shoes can affect your cockpit setup, as a thicker or thinner sole means your pedal force is being applied from a slightly different angle. For cyclists who tailor their fit for each individual discipline and event, the adjustability and carbon construction expertise that ENVE builds in to the Twin Bolt Seatpost means it’s strong and light enough for road and trail, easy to install, and intuitive to adjust via the titular Twin Link hardware.

The Twin Link mechanism itself comprises two bolts that govern the movement of two wedges, which are twin peaks of adjustability that lock your saddle in place with a 0 to 27 degree range of tilt.

Description

I’ts become known that by utilizing a dropper seatpost in challenging Sedona Arizona style terrain will change your confidence level, so most who already have them consider it to be one of the best upgrades you can do to your bike to improve your riding. The newest company from Switzerland dubbed Yep Components is fully on board with this mentality, and their new Yep Uptimizer is the only product at the moment they spec to you and I. Yep has two models available, one with internal cable routing called the HC, that’s kind of like the Rockshox Reverb (stealth), and the other ST is with external cable routing.

In typical Swiss fashion, Yep employs parts they say are the best around, such as Motorex fluids and Igus bushings.  They’re CNC machined and assembled in Switzerland, and the setup utilizes less air pressure than other dropper seatposts on the market, which they say allows for longer service life of the parts.

Yep Components Uptimizer HC lever

The Uptimizer lever design allows actuation in many directions, and the clamp is a unique split design that appears to allow for easy mounting without changing other controls. Similar to the levers included with the first generation Crank Brothers Joplin dropper posts, it pulls a small amount of cable when moved in any direction. They are claiming this, combined with the split clamp allows easy installation and placement for this crucial part of the system.

The retail price is €345 for the Uptimizer HC which is internally routed in your frame, ois close to $435 at today’s exchange rates. Being more than a Rockshox Reverb Stealth, but less than a Thomson Elite Covert Dropper, the Uptimizer is priced decent for a high-end dropper post, especially when you consider the features and construction.  The Uptimizer is available in several diameters of 30.9mm and 31.6mm diameters, 125 or 155mm of travel, and with different Uptimizer color accent kits, it checks the main boxes as a possible contender in this rapidly increasing market.

The two models are available now, and only direct from their online website.

Thomson Elite Dropper Seat Post

thompson elite dropper post

ELITE DROPPER

The bike small parts company Thomson has been synonymous in being one of the few to truly create a cult following in the mountain bike industry. But as of late the designers have been on a rapid move, thus deciding it’s now time to branch out a bit by expanding from their sole dedication to seatposts and stems to a full assortment of mtb handlebars. Although to top that however, the bigger news as of recent, is the transition from smaller static style parts to their newest and fabulous 5-inch travel Thomson Elite Post.

This big jump from professionally shaping aluminum stems and seat posts into the realm of mastering hydraulics might appear to be a tall order for some companies to undertake but, we should keep in the back of the mind, Thomson have actually always been focused on aerospace contracting as the first priority, while the cycling component manufacturer falls second. Which simply means they have more than enough design resources and prowess to enter the market in a confident way, while the Elite’s immediate first reviews bring these facts into the light.
Thomson also had a huge head start over many of the sole suspension-manufacturers who have entered this market all due to its classic two-bolt saddle clamping mechanism, loved by millions in the mtb arenas across the globe. Similar to the long-standing standard model, the newest player also utilizes a one-piece, forged cradle to provide the same durability and amazing strength that made the original one of the mountain biker’s favorites. But, that’s all Thomson opted to share with the original.

Wisely, they opted to outsource all the internal mechanics in order to ensure higher reliability and decrease the painstaking development time all in one fail swoop. This newest Elite setup utilizes an oil cartridge like some of the other lowering models out there to control the height, but are a bit different with a nitrogen shock to quickly return it to full-height. All this is easily controlled with a cable style remote on the handlebar that rotates a unique progressive cam, this opens up the oil-passage way like a simple valve between upper- and lower-chamber areas. Your own girth will suffice to force it down, while the setup will stay in whatever position it’s in when you decide to release the lever.

Thus making the Elite infinitely adjustable. All while at the opposite end of the spectrum, the nitrogen shock actually applies pressure to push the saddle back up to it’s original position, with a return speed that becomes dampened within the last 15mm of travel or so. No slamming of the seat here at top-out. This nitro charged shock will also eliminate the complicated air actuation by eliminating the need to bleed any damage-prone hydraulic alternatives on the market. Another disadvantage to many move-able post designs is side-to-side play. They have efficiently addressed this problem by engineering a keyed, four-section shape that completely eliminates any side to side saddle slop. They have also in true fashion designed the Elite with a handlebar remote that’s minimalist in design and machined from alloy. They are also providing the option of an under-saddle lever as well that will be available for purchase separately.

This newest entrant on the Dropper market will be available in the diameter sizes of both 30.9 and 31.6mm diameter along with the lone color Black. The seatpost’s length overall measures at 400mm, and it’s important to note that you won’t be able to cut it down shorter… the design also has a 5mm seat offset.
The Elite claimed weight is 507 grams for the 31.6 diameter @ 400mm length..
Pricing is discounted 4% to $435.00

9point8 Unveils A Pulse Dropper Post For The MTB Crowd

9point8 Pulse dropper seatpost

Originating out of the town of Ancaster, Ontario, Canada, the newer mtb company 9point8 is looking to mix things up a bit in the mtb parts arena with the introduction of their Pulse Stepper Post. They have also been extremely quick to point out that there is a big differentiation with their newest incarnation, and that it’s not just another dropper style seatpost for mountain bikes but a stepping setup that is capable of dropping in even 5mm increments. The recent launch of the newest product goes along with the opening of the brand themselves, that were actually born and bred straight out of Canada, to ultimately be a company designing very unique products that will be available and sold to the consumer directly.

It’s been reported the key feature for the Pulse model just happens to be how it ratchets down in those small 5mm increments as described above, which is simply by pulling a short stroke on the handlebar mounted lever. You also have the option of fully pulling the lever in all the way which coincidentally drops it all the way down, and bypassing the 5mm stepping feature. It appears while the lever might look big in the photos here, it looks to be quite easy to use all thanks to plenty of additional leverage it provides.
Pulse prototype
The other unique functionality is the ability to be able to run either a zero offset clamp mechanism, or the offset design if you so choose by simply purchasing the conversion kit they have designed and made available. This saddle clamp will also allow for micro-adjustable saddle angle, due to the fore and aft adjustment ability. They will be providing more information here at the release on their site, as it’s already been reported to utilize a very state of the art anti-rotation design for no vertical, fore and aft, and horizontal movement which enables you to pick the mountain bike up via the saddle without damaging it, this all is patent pending and 9point8′s website is actually claiming that all of their products will provide an unheard of lifetime warranty for a it. Which shows how much confidence they obviously must have in this design for the new Pulse..

The price and other info will be released later in the week at the link above. Additionally they will be manufacturing the 30.9 and 31.6mm diameters to begin with and work on other designs in the future.

Niner RDO (Carbon Goods For The MTB!)

Niner RDO seatpost review
Model: zero-offset

TWO PRIORITIES 1. Fun. 2.Race.

As many reviews will attest, while heading out to the favorite of trail sections, your bound to notice that first ride difference while armored and set with the Niner carbon RDO Seatpost on your mountain bike, it will be hard to not notice a huge difference in comfort and bump pedaling efficiency through the stuttery sections. It doesn’t matter whether your on your rear travel full suspension or that racer bread hardtail mountain bike, there will be far less fatigue after the ride because of the technology they term as the ‘unstiff’ layup. Niner engineers have actually tested and are reporting that this particular RDO composite process absorbs trail vibration nearly two times, yes that’s right, twice more than other carbon mtb seatpost models out there.

Niner have also molded the RDO post model with a single piece of carbon to take care of the entire process, some of the other manufactures need to utilize a bonding process because they are using different materials and joining them together, thus making the ‘RDO’ Race Day Optimized version a superior shaft structurally. Niner has also customized the inner wall thickness to provide the correct amount of strength needed, but kept just enough the to dampen things. They have also made super simple seat attachment system, it uses a two bolt style clamp to easy find the best saddle position, and keep it there.

Niner have also designed the head clamping area to be zero-offset style, there are three available sizes for the post that range from 27.2, 30.9, and 31.6 mm. The designers have also done an excellent job with the graphics that match perfectly to their composite 29er frames.. Enjoy!

Fox Shox DOSS Dropper Seatpost with remote lever

Fox Shox Doss seatpost handlebar remote

For 2014 you will finally have access to the long awaited FOX SHOX DOSS mtb post (if you like the technical details, it stands for ‘Drop Off Steep Shit’). This thoroughly engineered seatpost has two options of travel available, either set it to only lower 100mm or set it up to drop to the longer 125 mm, it’s your choice. It also has a middle position you can set at the handlebar dual remote lever (shown below) of 40mm for trail conditions that are rolling but still technical and require you to continue pedaling. Fox also utilized a basic shifter style cable to control the actuation of the new setup.
Fox Racing Doss Dropper Seatpost

Detail Specs for the DOSS system:

  •  Mechanically engineered internal system.
  •  Lower Air return spring of a minimal (10 – 25psi to adjust the return speed) to get more supple feel.
  •  3 total positions (C.T.D.): (climb) at full height, (trail) 40mm , (descend) completely lowered either at 125mm or 100mm, whichever you choose.
  •  Seat Rail clamp is bomber two-bolt style.
  •  Fits frame seat tube diameter sizes of either 30.9mm or 31.6mm.
  •  Weight for the Complete setup is 620 grams w/ the, cable housing and hardware.
  •  DOSS Pricing was $439.00, now $339.00

Dual Lever

As of late the DOSS model will be the first to utilize a double lever style bar remote, having a shorter style to actuate its trail position of 40mm, while the main and bigger silver lever running the actuation for the post’s entire travel. No more struggling to position your seat correctly during those panic moments, the DOSS double remote will become instinctual and simplify this.
Fox Racing Shox Doss post dropper with remote lever

The bigger, main silver lever will let you lower the setup completely, while also stopping at the middle 40mm position. And the smaller, black lever restricts the actual up or down movement to just the Trail position of 40mm.

They have also designed the bar remote clamp to have different mounting options, it can be set up on either side of the handlebar, either on the top or bottom of the bar as well, having three different thumb angle positions as well. Fox also gave the mount a hinged style clamp to make removal easier.

Fox decided to stray from the norm by placing the actuation arm (where the cable connects to the post) to the side instead of on the rear where it gets hammered by debris from the back tire. Fox also made it possible to switch it from the left side to the right by rotating the rail clamps 180°, making for smoother cable routing on different mountain bike setups.

The style of actuation from the side not only makes the cable run smoother, but makes it extremely easy to access the cable attachment bolt t touching the saddle’s clamping bolt. All the other versions on the market require you to move or remove the saddle out of the way. They have also styled out the DOSS cable adjustment with an easy inline barrel adjuster.

The off road engineers were able to make the DOSS Seatpost feel incredibly smooth all the way through the entire 125mm of travel, moving both ways having the feeling of no resistance, making the other posts feel stiction and slow in comparison. This has to due with the internal ball-bearings, which actually operate by rolling. The lower psi style air spring feels remarkable as well, allowing you to lower it during the middle of those enduro racing-hairball split second moment decisions, when the front of the bike is already over the edge…

Rockshox Reverb Dropper Seatpost – (Stealth 150mm or 125mm)

rockshox reverb dropper seatpost - 2012

rockshox reverb stealth dropper post

MODEL:  Lower It! Then Raise It!

All it takes is one ride over varied terrain using the adjustable (125mm, or 150mm) Reverb dropper style seatpost beneath you is all it takes to turn you into a firm believer. With all the added control, enhanced comfort, and a bigger set of confidence that comes from being able to instantly lower the saddle for descents and technical sections, and then just as quickly return it to its original (or an intermediate) position, becomes habit forming. Before you know it, you’ll be adjusting your post on the fly without even thinking about it. So ultimately Rockshox set out to design and build the Reverb Stealth as one of the best adjustable setups out there. It offers the choice of either a full 125mm of rise, or 150mm depending on which model you go with,  but ultimately both versions are infinitely adjustable, that exhibit absolutely no side-to-side play that a lot of the competitors end up with over time. Another key Rockshox feature is the adjustable return speed. We feel like they succeeded!

When you ride extremely varied terrain like ripping up and down through rolling single track on your 29er mountain bike, maybe your cranking hard on the pedals one minute but then all of sudden you need to get off the back of the bike the next, there is no saddle height that qualifies as “perfect.” So ultimately Rockshox’s new Reverb 125mm adjustable setup gives you unlimited control and adjustment. So there is a multitude of height adjustment for your seat, to get it just right for you and the terrain your ripping down and up, not somebody else’s preset stops that give two options of all the way down or up. You also have control of your return speed by utilizing a hydraulically actuated remote at the handlebar. It also comes with a complete oil bleed kit so you are able to customize the tubing length on the (125mm, or 150mm version) to fit your bike’s setup and frame size.

The Reverb Stealth 150mm seatpost also uses a customized sealing system which means the plush and consistent feel of this dropper post won’t degrade no matter how much nasty weather you want throw at it, per many positive user reviews that have been submitted,  it’s going to stand up to the test of time while battling it out with mother natures wrath!

Adjustable return speed: So you can customize the seatpost’s performance to your personal liking
Air, oil and spring design: Will deliver either 125mm (4.9″) or 150mm depending on which of the two you go with, but ultimately they both have infinite seat height adjustment
Material: 3D-forged and butted 7050 Aluminum for strength and durability
Offset: Zero

Crank Brothers Kronolog Seatpost

Kronolog seatpost
Crank Brothers Kronolog mountain bike post

CRANK BROTHERS KRONOLOG SEATPOST ..

For the ever cool and evolving mtb scene there’s always something new being blasted out on the market. This time it’s a new dropper style setup called the Kronolog, which has replaced their Joplin line of mechanical dropper setup.

They have been producing their Joplin for over a span of five years, during that time they have worked hard to make the Joplin system more reliable. They made increases to the travel of it from the original 3in to 4in, then 5in. But unfortunately the seatpost’s reliability seemed to be falling off of what the other competitor scores were marking up there.

Crankbrothers felt they needed to go back to the drawing board with the Joplin hydraulic design, which netted the newest Kronolog a fresh start.

From their press release: “Through our experience in the adjustable seatpost category, we’ve learned that the main source of failure is an over complicated design. Hydraulic models are heavy and problematic, so we took a different route. We wanted to create something simple, and it became clear that a mechanical design was optimal for the complicated task at hand.”

Extensive Research

It was a prototype and tested extensively over a two year time frame, and developed from that research. The seatpost changed design ten different times iterations, and incremental changes beyond that. Through the process, the setup was extensively tested both on mountain bike single track and in the machine shop as well.

It’s been said the new version is more durable because of its new mechanical design which makes it more reliable, but the use of a new main air spring and new adjustable air damped return means it feels much like the Joplin used to with its hydraulic system. The damped return stroke has a two stage system. The first stage of return is quick, and the second stage is at the end of the return travel, slowing it down in the final inch of return.

They will provide a two-year warranty with the new Kronolog Seatpost, because there are fewer parts in the new system, there are fewer failures, citing that it passed EN fatigue testing by nearly triple the requirement.

Unlike other mechanical systems, this version is infinitely adjustable through a unique keyed quill system, which is also said to eliminate all rotational movement on your mtb, a drawback of many dropper seatpost designs. Once locked into position, it will resist both downward and upward force so as to remain fixed when picking the bike up from the saddle, hydraulic designs had a tendency to have some movement.

The other unique advantages to the new Crankbrothers Kronolog is a 50 gram reduction when compared to the past years Joplin 5 remote version, and it also has a lower fixed remote cable position, internal travel reduction in 20mm (0.78in) increments (via spacers).

The seatpost will be offered in two color options of black with red accents, along with standard Black that is shown above, it will also have aftermarket color kits available as well.

The Crankbrothers claimed total weight is 465 grams, which includes the remote that weighs in at 28 grams by itself, along with the cable housing as well. The newest model will be offered in 30.9 mm and 31.6 mm diameters for your 29er mtb. They will offer two color schemes of black-and-black and black-on-red, standard, plus aftermarket color kits, which cost US$45 and replace the clamp and lever, in blue, orange, gold, red, and black. The other key note about the model, also has a total of 125mm/5 inches of mechanical adjustable drop, while the online retail price will run for $300 in the US.
