Juliana Strega C LE NX 170mm Enduro

Juliana Bicycles 2018

Now hot on the heels of brother company Santa Cruz reworking their Nomad, Juliana received her own 170mm enduro bike dubbed the Strega that promises to pedal like a trail bike and descend like a true DH monster.

The Strega is similar to the new Nomad v4, that it employs a two-position Virtual Pivot Point suspension design adapted from Santa Cruz’s long 216mm travel V10 to create what is probably the most aggressive mountain bike developed for women.

Juliana feels that women haven’t had their own options for a long travel bike because the industry hasn’t seen a real need from more aggressive women trail riders. But with plenty of women racing enduro, DH & other gravity disciplines, the Strega says it is about time for women to get their own.

The overhaul of the Nomad was the perfect opportunity for Juliana Bicyles to chime in and say they wanted a version for the ladies too. They recognize that this is pretty niche, but why not when they’ve already got the Nomad molds in hand. What’s different you ask?

Well, the Strega gets the exact same frame as the new 27.5″ Nomad, but sticks to the smaller three frame sizes only – XS, S & M. So, that means the same two-position high or low gravity-inspired progressive VPP suspension design, with its grease port equipped alloy linkage. It shares the same 65° headtube for thrashing down the mountain and 74.5° seat tube & dropper post for climbing back up to do it all again.

But Juliana attention to detail for women makes its way out in suspension tuned for a typically lighter range of smaller riders. The shared frame already gets low standover height, but the Juliana probably will benefit even more from the option to set the bike up in either high or low stances with the flip chip at the lower rear shock mount.

The Strega also pairs standover with frame size-specific dropper seatposts, so smaller riders get the extension they need to pedal back up the hills without hauling around more weight (150mm Reverb on M, 125mm on S & 100mm on XS.) The build kits also get adapted out to better fit most female riders with contact points selected by Juliana’s own dedicated female product testers.

Drivetrain on the new Strega is 1x only, so gearing is key so for the most part the Strega gets a small 30T chainring when paired with 11 speeds & a 32T with Eagle 12 speed setups. This really is a bike that will benefit from SRAM’s super-wide Eagle cassettes to be able to handle both going up & down again & again.

The 27.5″ Strega is available in two carbon levels – C & CC – in that Wicked green. They include a bolt-on (upper downtube) shuttle guard for tossing off the back of your pick-up, a standard downtube bash protector, and the little rear shock fender. Complete Strega C bikes start at $4500 with a NX setup and climb to at least $8200 for the Strega CC with XX1 Eagle which gets a claimed weight of 29.1lb (13.2kg).

There’s also the option to upgrade your builds with Santa Cruz’s new Reserve carbon enduro wheels that actually get the same carbon warranty asa the frames.

The bikes with full carbon main frame & rear triangles (+alloy links) will be available from June 15 and come with a lifetime warranty, ready for anything from big mountain trail days to trips to shred the bike park.

Concept Description

TheRidley Ladies Carbon road bike marks the beginning of a fabulous starting point for Ridley, and for the fast women’s field of racers out there. Yes the Ridley Jane frame is geared for racers due to it’s HMF ‘High Modulous Fiber’ employed throughout, with the well known ratio of 60T-40T-30T carbon similiar to the Ridley Men’s Noah Super-Light SL race models that are currently out there breaking the peleton apart. Although don’t get me wrong, this Jane bike with a slightly shorter reach would be perfect for the experienced weekend warrior wanting a sweet bike as well.

Jane Ultegra

The Jane was developed similar to the Ladies Liz, and will keep you out there grinding miles and miles on end, as it utilizes a key blend of vibration devouring 60-30-20-ton unidirectional carbon fiber layup. So that potholes, cobblestones, and other road hazards are as smooth as crosswalk paint on the women’s setup. The oversized bottom bracket and burly chainstays on the Jane design mean comfort doesn’t have to sacrifice the cost of efficiency, though. And for giggles if you ever get tired of running over the obstacles strewn across the tarmac, the stiff, tapered headtube nets responsive steering to dodge through debris with precision and ease.

Ridley didn’t skimp on the kit either, so Shimano’s newly redesigned 11-speed Ultegra drivetrain gets the nod with rim brakes to keep it lighter than the past disc versions. Another sign their intension for this bike to be ridden hard is that they didn’t skimp on the cassette, which is easy to do since it’s not heavily branded. When they say complete, they mean it — even when they could get away with cutting corners. The Fulcrum Racing Aero wheelset is another strong spot on the bike, and, combined with the bombproof components, is all but guaranteed to keep you worry free for years.

Concept Description

The fabulous Ridley Liz women’s carbon road bike employs the same kit and materials found specced in their men’s Ridley Fenix models. The only difference is that the Liz is offered with 3cm less reach and a slightly shorter standover height for the lady cyclists in the house.

Ridley Liz fork

They developed the Liz to keep you grinding miles on end, as it employs a key blend of vibration devouring 30- and 24-ton unidirectional carbon fiber structure. So that potholes, cobblestones, and other road hazards are as smooth as crosswalk paint on the women’s setup. The oversized bottom bracket and burly chainstay specs on the Liz getup mean comfort doesn’t have to sacrifice the cost of efficiency, though. And for giggles if you ever get tired of running over the obstacles strewn across the tarmac, the stiff, tapered headtube nets responsive steering to dodge through debris with precision and ease.

Liz Ulteg Women's white green

As mentioned above, Ridley didn’t skimp on the kit. This is a real bike for a real cyclist, so Shimano’s newly redesigned 11-speed Ulteg drivetrain gets the nod. Another sign that Ridley intends this bike to be ridden hard is that they didn’t skimp on the cassette, which is easy to do since it’s not heavily branded. When they say full Ulteg, they mean it — even when they could get away with cutting corners. The 4ZA Cirrus RC23 wheelset is another strong spot on the bike, and, combined with the bombproof Ultegra, is all but guaranteed to keep you worry free for years.

2017 Cannondale Tango 1 27.5 Nearly Black Review

Tango 1

The 2017 Cannondale Tango 27.5 fits into your budget quite amazing, due partly to it’s list of worthwhile parts that are yes very worthy for getting bounced around down your favorite local trail system. The bike makes a change up though for this year from the 29er it was built around for the past few seasons, and now employs 650b wheels, that are lighter and require less effort to get them rolling than a 29er version. On the Cannondale bike you will still have a larger contact surface with the ground and will experience extremely high grip with very low rolling resistance on whatever surface you roll over. 650b tires still allow for low air pressures at lower margins of danger as the rollover behavior is still improved compared to smaller 26 inch wheels. This is a great hardtail for ladies across the globe.

Tango 2 version

Bike Frame made w/ Aluminum

The Tango aluminum frame is not only both rigid and light where it needs to be, but it’s quite a bit less expensive than what a carbon frame would be. Modern aluminum frames are actually close to carbon visually, and they are actually pretty hard to distinguish by the some of new technology and manufacturing process. So now thanks to that hydroforming technology, the production of a complex aluminum frame is made possible, where considerably thinner walls and thus significant weight savings, ultimately a lighter bike than ever before.

Pells Razzer First 6 Lady

Pells Razzer First 6 Lady

Razzer First 6 Lady

This Razzer model utilizes the VFHS (vertical flexible horizontal stiff) technology, which combines flat rear tubes with 2014 Pells Razzer specific shaping seat stays “S-bend”. This combination allows spring in vertical direction and supports horizontal stiffness. This design of the frame is highlighted by the connection of toptube to it’s seatstays which are built to be flat which then  continue around the seatpost. This provides key Lady characteristics for the Pells frame to make it ride wonderful, while integrating everything together.

Puttying and grinding welds on the Razzer headtube area gives it the “carbon look”, to it’s alloy P6 Ultralite frame.  Frames like the Razzer that employ this style of alloy triple butted tubing also have a tapered headtube along with a bottom bearing of 1.5″.  Giving the Razzer maximum rigidity and steering precision wheel.

Part Joplin endurance racer, part rowdy trail bike…

price: $4499 save 0% weight: 28.46 LBS / 12.91 KG

The 2017 Juliana Joplin 29 Carbon S8 is ridiculously fun. The original Joplin model redefined what people thought a 29er could be. This latest version breaks the mold all over again.

Yes, the Joplin makes for one fine cross-country/endurance machine. With its light-yet-stiff carbon frame, efficient VPP3 rear suspension, and it’s wheel option, this bike can be an absolute race weapon—but the Joplin is more than that.

juliana reverb-post

The Joplin has always been, to reduce this thing to a single word, called fun. As in the uncontrollable-giggling-spontaneous-high-fiving kind of fun. Juliana cranked the knob on that particular trait to 11 this year with a ground-up redesign that increases the bike’s composure on descents, adds a bit more small-bump suppleness to the mix and improves its handling in tight turns.

The new Joplin also gives you the option of running different diameter wheels. If you’re looking for quick acceleration and a nimble feel, go 29er. If you’re wanting extra traction and a more forgiving ride over roots and babyhead rocks, go 27.5+. It’s your choice.

Is the Joplin a cross-country racer? Sure. A trail bike? Absolutely. Is it fun? Oh, hell yes.

So for this Carbon-C Juliana model in particular, the frame is every bit as stiff and strong as their top-tier carbon CC-level frames, but weighs about 280 grams more, due to the use of some lighter, stronger, and more expensive carbon fiber. Using this top-level Carbon material in key places allowed them to use less material overall, which is what shaves off more than half a pound from the frame.

Juliana cranked the knob on that particular trait to 11 this year with a ground-up redesign that increases the bike’s composure on descents, adds a bit more small-bump suppleness to the mix and improves its handling in tight turns.

Juliana Joplin Carbon CC 27.5+ X01 2017

The new Joplin also gives you the option of running different diameter wheels. If you’re looking for quick acceleration and a nimble feel, go 29er. If you’re wanting extra traction and a more forgiving ride over roots and babyhead rocks, go 27.5+. It’s your choice.

Is the Joplin a cross-country racer? Sure. A trail bike? Absolutely. Is it fun? Oh, hell yes.

So for this CC carbon Juliana model in particular, the 27.5+ frame is every bit as stiff and strong as their Carbon-level frames, but weighs about 280 grams less, due to the use of some lighter, stronger, and more expensive carbon fiber. Using this top-level Carbon material in key places allowed them to use less material overall, which is what shaves off more than half a pound from the frame.

2017 Juliana Furtado 2.0 Carbon CC XT Build

Juliana Furtado 2.0 CC XT

Part Furtado endurance racer, part fun trail bike…

price: $6199 save 0% weight: 28.19 LBS / 12.79 KG

The 2017 Juliana Furtado 2.0 CC  arrives on the scene with longer, lower, and slacker geometry than its lauded predecessor with a nimble back end and aggressive pedaling platform that redefines the limitations of a trail bike. Reigning as the gold standard by which all other trail bikes are measured, the Furtado saw a few updates with it’s mid-season release that further widened the gap to the rest of the herd. While this particular version rocks a kit featuring a Shimano XT two-by 11 drivetrain, Shimano XT hydraulic brakes, a dropper seatpost, and hard-charging RaceFace Arc 24 rims.

The shifts in geometry appear most obviously in the slacker head tube and steeper seat tube in comparison to the Furtado 1.0. The head tube loses a whole degree, dropping from 68 to 67, which brings it more in line with the previous Roubion model while expanding the Furtado capability when things possibly get steeper and or truly gnarly. The steeper seat tube angle is equally impactful, with the forward-oriented position of the saddle making for better leverage on the pedals while grinding up climbs or cranking out speed over long stretches of flowy singletrack.

spe_d6

Compared to its predecessor, the Furtado also features a longer reach, lower bottom bracket, 5mm more travel, increased dropper range, stubbier chainstays, and a wider rear axle. This stack of alterations means that it pedals harder, takes bigger bites out of terrain, and provides a wider seat height range for aggressively tackling double-digit grades on either side of zero.

The Virtual Pivot Point 3 (VPP3) suspension also sees some changes in the Furtado. The most immediately obvious is the extra 5mm of travel, but the tuning has also been revised. Where the old Furtado suspension curve described a deep “U,” the new VPP3 curve resembles a flattened check mark, with less dramatic ramping on either end of the travel arc.

The results are that, during the initial stroke, VPP3 provides increased small bump compliance to keep the tires glued to the trail for more traction across lumpy terrain and root-strewn grades. It also maintains that firm feel of the predecessor during accelerations while jockeying for position off the line or clearing a shelf at the crux of a climb. When paired with a Fox Evol air can, the ramp-up arc doesn’t dramatically alter as the shock compresses, so the pedaling platform stays consistent across travel with less wallowing, bob, and bottoming out—even while the axle path turns rearward as travel increases to absorb big hits.

juliana furtado

This CC-level carbon frame is every bit as stiff and strong as Juliana’s C-level frames, but weighs about 280 grams less, due to the use of some lighter, stronger, and more expensive carbon fiber. Using this key material in various places allowed them to use less material overall, which is what shaves off more than half a pound from it’s frame.

Both 2.0 triangles are constructed on the Juliana as whole, monocoque pieces, which also contributes to keeping weight low because the carbon material can be wrapped through junctures and around joints. This eliminates the artificial weak points of bonded frames and actually requires less material in the process. While being cured, the frame is compacted from inside and out, a final step that virtually eliminates any extra material and resin pooling, resulting in more structural integrity and, of course, additional weight savings.

The 2017 Juliana Furtado CC 2.0 is not only designed for the rigors of trail and enduro-mountain riding, it actually enjoys huge gratitude over them all as the most popular Juliana bicycle in the lineup. When your favorite trails are filled with berms, tight switchbacks, and long, hand-numbing descents, bikes like the Furtado are key to taking them a level higher. The Furtado is a capable machine that can tackle all of that and more without taking itself too seriously.

For the update, Juliana made slight alterations to its geometry and the links in the VPP suspension to create a bike that’s better equipped than ever to work with you on the trails.

The Furtado’s overall strength and stiffness are further enhanced with the mechanic-friendly, oversized 15mm collet-style hardware and the Boost 148mm rear thru-axle.

2017 Juliana Furtado 2.0 CC Spearmint Frameset

They also made the decision to include a threaded bottom bracket on the Furtado. Abandoning the inconsistencies of Pressfit cups, as Furtado engineers trust the mechanical dependability of a threaded BB to give you the peace of mind of a stiff, creak-free ride.

Along with the new Furtado, they are launching their “Going Places” 3 part video series which features different ambassadors and their guiding companies across the globe.

2017 Juliana Furtado 2.0 Carbon R2 MTB

2017 juliana furtado 2.0 carbon cc xx1-enve

Part Furtado endurance racer, part fun trail bike…

price: $3698 save 0% weight: 29.52 LBS / 13.39 KG

The 2017 Juliana Furtado 2.0 Carbon R2X arrives on the scene with longer, lower, and slacker geometry than its lauded predecessor with a nimble back end and aggressive pedaling platform that redefines the limitations of a trail bike. Reigning as the gold standard by which all other trail bikes are measured, the Furtado saw a few updates with it’s mid-2016 release that further widened the gap to the rest of the herd. While this particular version rocks a kit featuring a one-by Shimano SLX drivetrain, Sram Level T hydraulic brakes, a dropper seatpost, and hard-charging WTB STP i23 rims.

2017 Juliana Furtado 2.0 Carbon R2X Spearmint MTB

This Juliana stack of alterations means that it pedals harder, takes bigger bites out of terrain, and provides a wider seat height range for aggressively tackling double-digit grades on either side of zero.

The Virtual Pivot Point 3 (VPP3) suspension also sees some changes in the Furtado. The most immediately obvious is the extra 5mm of travel, but the tuning has also been revised. Where the old suspension curve described a deep “U,” VPP3 curve resembles a flattened check mark, with less dramatic ramping on either end of the travel arc.

2017 Juliana Furtado 2.0 Carbon S

Juliana employs industry-leading frame construction, although this version uses a slightly lower grade than the higher end Carbon CC frame. This requires more material be used to achieve the same strength, so it carries a bit more weight, but in every other aspect it holds the same astoundingly high standards as their Carbon CC level frames. The upshot is that you get a frame that is every bit as stiff and strong, with a much more palatable price tag.

Both 2.0 triangles are constructed on the Juliana as whole, monocoque pieces, which also contributes to keeping weight low because the carbon can be wrapped through junctures and around joints. This eliminates the artificial weak points of bonded frames and actually requires less material in the process. While being cured, the Furtado frame is compacted from inside and out, a final step that virtually eliminates any extra material and resin pooling, resulting in more structural integrity and, of course, additional weight savings.

Description

The 2017 Fuji Adventure employs several premium features like an aluminum frame, front suspension, and easy to use components. The Adventure is ready to fulfill your greatest trail need.

Nothing can end the Adventure ride earlier than a lack of comfort, and when it comes to the trail, comfort is of vital importance. The Adventure bike is designed to ease your stress on the trail, instead of add to it.

Let’s face it, most trails and roads aren’t smooth, so you need support. The Adventure’s lightweight frame and suspension fork are easy to maneuver and the 60mm of fork travel helps to take the sting out of uneven surfaces. Plus, the Adventure has a 21-speed Shimano drivetrain with EZ Fire shifters. Simply push or click your way to an easier pedaling cadence.

Wheels and tires don’t just go round and round, they deliver important stability and forgiveness against choppy terrain. The Adventure’s alloy rims and 1.95″ tires smooth out the road or trail beneath you and make cornering safer. Finally, a set of soft rubber Kraton grips and a MTB-specific padded saddle provide plenty of cushion to two of three major points at which your body touches the bike.

Beti SB5 Turq X01 Eagle

Yeti is born from the trails of Colorado, and this is the next iteration of Yeti’s most popular all-mountain bike. With an updated, sleek frame design, internal cable routing, BOOST spacing, lower Yeti Beti stand-over height and metric suspension all atop Yeti’s Switch Infinity translating pivot, it is the go-to choice for any trail adventure.

The Switch Infinity is a simple, lightweight, bombproof system built by Fox Racing Shox from proven suspension components and is engineered and tested to withstand the worst riding conditions. It allows Yeti to tune a bikes suspension to be more responsive give them the mechanical advantage of a linear system which cannot be achieved with traditional link designs.

The SB5 Turq series frame is only 5.50 lbs and features the optimized layup and production techniques in their magical bag of tricks. It offers the ideal combination of responsiveness, durability, and supple ride quality. They’ve taken everything admirable about the original Beti and made it into a more refined machine. With a few Beti geometry tweaks like a slacker head tube angle, steeper seat tube angle, shorter chainstays, and a slightly longer front-end, they’ve delivered an even more playful bike that can be pushed even harder. With internal cable routing, lower stand-over height and improved kinematics, the Beti continues its legacy as an all-around trail bike ready for light park days and epic backcountry quests.

Yeti Beti SB5c Turq Eagle X01

    Description

Finally for this year the Access GTC has received a completely new and super light carbon frame from the creatives Cube Bicycles. So now with the prestigious complete Shimano XT 11-speed groupset and Manitou’s Minute fork the Access WLS ride adds up be to a true high-tech, high-performance bike. Now when rolling it out of your fabulous urban garage it’s ready to compete in XC events or to take extended MTB trips with your close friends.

The new Access WLS Frame boasts carbon manufacturing at its best, with complex Twin Mold Monocoque process allowed for them to produce the setup with a much lower weight alongside extremely high stiffness only where it’s needed, along with added bump compliance elsewhere. This was achieved on the Access WLS with several key items like a tapered headtube, PressFit bottom bracket, Direct-Mounting for both the front and rear derailleurs and X-12 rear thru axle. While the smaller 27.2mm seatpost diameter now provides compliance on washboards and the like.

    2017-cube-access-wls-gtc-sl-bike-review-test

This not only adds up to you’re noticeable comfort over rough ground, but now you can add in Cube’s highly praised Agile Ride Geometry to completely take care of the typical nimble and fun Cube handling.

Having best in class suspension action and super low weight, speaks volumes for the Manitou Minute TS 100mm fork with remote lock out. While the power and modulation of the Shimano XT trail brakes are no slouch either. Also the lightweight wheels get up to speed fast and will have you rolling happily mile after mile.
